Welcome Severn Water

On November 19, 2024, Maryland American Water completed the acquisition of the Severn drinking water system. We have been providing high-quality, reliable water service to Maryland residents for almost a century, and we are committed to delivering that same standard of excellence to you.

You’re in good hands.

Our focus is to provide you with safe, reliable water service—and we have the people and technologies in place to get the job done right. As our valued customer, we wanted to share with you some information about the services we provide, as well as some changes that will be taking place over time.

About your rates.

There will be no immediate changes to your current rates. Because Maryland American Water is regulated by the Maryland Public Service Commission (PSC), any future proposed changes in rates will be subject to extensive governmental review and approval. To learn more, visit marylandamwater.com. Under Customer Service & Billing, select Your Water Rates.

Billing transition.

Here’s how the billing transition will work. You can expect to receive your first bill from Maryland American Water in January. Your subsequent bills will be for a period of around 90 days and will be sent to you on a quarterly basis.

After the closing date, Maryland American Water will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the system and will be your point of contact for any service-related and billing questions. We’ve already hit the ground running and you may have begun to see our employees and vehicles, as Maryland American Water will be fixing leaks and mapping the water distribution system assets and installing meters.
