Kentucky American Water Announces 2022 Environmental Grant Program Recipient
Kentucky American Water has awarded a total of $4,304 to the recipient of the 2022 American Water Environmental Grant Program. The program supports innovative, community-based environmental projects that improve, restore or protect the watersheds, surface water and groundwater supplies within Kentucky American Water’s service area.
“As a leader in environmental stewardship, Kentucky American Water is helping to move our state toward a more sustainable future,” said David Farrar, vice president of operations. “By supporting community organizations through our annual Environmental Grant Program, our team is continuing to show our commitment to protecting the environment and enhancing the health of our watersheds.
“Since 2006 Kentucky American Water has provided more than $248,000 in funds through this program alone to support community projects than preserve and protect the environment,” Farrar added. “We are pleased to support this year’s recipients and applaud their efforts.”
This year, Bluegrass Greensource, in partnership with Copperhead Environmental Consulting, Inc., Keepers of the Creek – Hinkston Heroes, Licking Valley Adventures, Bourbon County and the City of Maysville, will receive a grant of $4,304 for an innovative project to evaluate the water quality of Hinkston Creek in Bourbon County to determine if the site is viable for future mussel propagation efforts.
This project will be completed this year.
