Iowa American Water lifts precautionary boil advisory for parts of West Davenport and Blue Grass; Water safe to drink

DAVENPORT, IA (November 16, 2022) – Iowa American Water has LIFTED a precautionary boil advisory for all customers located in the affected areas of West Davenport and Blue Grass, Iowa, due to two large water main breaks Saturday morning.

Effective at 9 AM today, Iowa American lifted the precautionary boil advisory that impacted customers in Blue Grass and portions of West Davenport. Water quality tests have confirmed that the water continues to meet all U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Safe Drinking Water Act and Iowa Department of Natural Resources regulations. It is no longer necessary for affected customers to boil their water before drinking or cooking.

During the boil water advisory, Iowa American Water performed a series of tests as required by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources to determine if the water met regulatory drinking water standards. Multiple samples were taken throughout the impacted area, and water quality tests confirmed that the water continues to meet all federal and state requirements.

Affected customers in West Davenport and Blue Grass are being notified that the precautionary boil advisory is now LIFTED via Iowa American Water’s customer notification system. Impacted customers should receive a phone call, email or text message based on their contact information the company has on file as well as their set communication preferences.

Customers in the impacted area who did not receive an alert notification can sign up online to receive future alerts from the company at https://login.amwater.com/, so they do not miss important messages from the company, or they can call 866-641-2108 (M-F, 7 AM – 7 PM) to sign up to be notified on up to three phone numbers and three email addresses. Customers are also encouraged to check their contact information to be sure Iowa American Water has their most current information on file.
